MentorHub NU is a tool that will connect you directly with Learners and help you to support them in taking charge of their Northeastern journey.

MentorHub Overview from CEBM on Vimeo.

Logging in

When you first download the app, you’ll need to log in. You can do that using the Northeastern single sign-on. If you have any issues with this, please contact NU ITS. If you get the error that you do not exist in the system, please email support@mentorhubapp.org.

Dashboard

After logging in, you will be greeted with the Dashboard. The Dashboard offers a number of options and areas of information to take in at a glance.

Profiles

Upon logging into the MentorHub NU app, please fill out your profile. Your Learners will be able to see your profile and it’s a great way for your Learners to get to know you and have a more personalized experience!

You can build out your profile by pressing the three lines at the top left of the page, clicking on “my profile,” and filling out the associated field.

Learner Tab

Here you can get more information about an individual Learner, message the Learner, or start a video call with the icons next to their name. Tapping on the Learner name itself will take you into their profile to give you more information. On the Learner’s profile, you’ll see the following tabs:

  • Summary: The summary tab shows you the Check-in scores that the learner has recorded. This feature allows students to rank how challenging they feel several dimensions of their life currently are from 1-10. The higher the score, the more challenging they feel that issue is.
  • Profile: Similar to SSGs, Learners are able to build out a profile
  • Goals: This will show a summary of the goals that the Learner selected, how they rated them by priority, and the status of this goal. This will provide SSGs with the knowledge they need to provide targeted supportive accountability to Learners.
  • Check-in: Check-in is one of the core parts of the MentorHub learner experience. It has a few main functions, which are:
    • Letting learners keep track of how they’re feeling about several challenges in their lives.
    • Letting students share that information with you as the SSG , so you can recommend the best resources and actions to address those challenges.
    • Letting the app directly recommend health and wellness resources that are appropriate for those challenges.
  • Referrals: Based on Learners’ check-ins scores and goals, SSGs can refer Learners to a variety of resources and knowledge base articles to assist them.
  • Check-In Logs: If a Learner rates a dimension as 7 or higher on their Check-In, a log will be created noting what dimension this was triggered in and what percentage that score had changed since the last time the Learner took the Check-In.
  • Surveys: Show in-app feedback from Learners on your referrals and support.
  • Badges: Shows the Badges and points that the Learner has earned.

Check-In

To Check-in, Learners will move a slider to the right to indicate how severe that challenge feels for them. The more they move the slider to the right, the more they’re struggling with that topic. This is how the check-in looks on the Learner app:

Tapping the Check-In tab in your app lets you see this information on your Learner in more detail. From here, you can set the view to monthly, weekly, or latest.

If a Learner rates a dimension as 7 or higher on their Check-In, a log will be created noting what dimension this was triggered in and what percentage that score had changed since the last time the Learner took the Check-In. You can see this information in the “Logs” tab. If your Learner experiences this escalated score, you are encouraged to reach out to the Learner and check-in with how they are doing, as well as offer to connect them to a resource. Upon checking in with them, be sure to check off the log (green check mark) to indicate that you checked in with them.

Goals

Learners in the MentorHub NU app will be prompted to indicate their current priorities and goals. They will also be recommended resources and knowledge base articles related to such goals. From the SSG side, you will be able to see the goals that the Learner indicated, how they rated them by priority, and if they are on track with the associated tasks. This will provide SSGs with the knowledge they need to provide targeted supportive accountability to Learners.

Referrals

MentorHub allows SSGs to recommend actionable steps to address challenges a student might be facing. Using a Learner’s Check-In, and by connecting with them through MentorHub’s chat and video call, you can find out what their needs are and suggest useful tasks to address them.

To create a referral, you’ll enter a title, choose the Check-In dimension and sub-category the referral relates to, and hit create.

You’ll then be shown a set of articles related to that Check-In dimension, each containing several concrete actions that the Learner can take. The list of options you can choose from will be narrowed down based on the Check-In category and sub category selected.

From there, options can be refined even further with tags to find the most relevant article. After you’ve found the right article, assign the task that is most relevant to the student. You can set a due date for the task to help them keep the student on track.

When the due date is approaching, or has arrived, you can check with the student to see whether they found the referral task helpful.

Based on their answers, you can complete the task follow-up survey to keep a record of how your recommendation was received. If for whatever reason the Learner didn’t find it helpful, you can navigate back to the knowledge base and try again.

App Tracking

MentorHub lets learners track their usage of our recommended wellness resources. For app usage to be tracked for a given resource, a Learner just has to launch the app from within MentorHub. Tap into the resources tab, choose a resource, and hit launch.

In your SSG app, you can see how this usage has progressed in the last few weeks in the learner profile. If a Learner wants to consistently use an app or resource, you can help keep them accountable to that goal by monitoring their usage and checking in with them.

Chat and Video Calls

You can chat and video call with Learners within the app. To schedule a call, pick a date and time, hit schedule, and your Learner will receive a notification that you’ve scheduled a call.

To join the call, tap on the meeting to enter the video room.

To chat, navigate to the Learner tab and hit the chat icon, or go to the chat tab and tap on a conversation. You can also chat with your Success Coordinator in this tab.

Broadcast Messaging

Oftentimes, SSGs need to message multiple Learners at once. For instance, if an SSG wants to message all Learners that haven’t completed a Check-In in a while, it may be inefficient to message each learner individually.

The broadcast feature allows an SSG to send the same message to multiple Learners individually all at once. This message will be sent to all selected Learners within their individual chat (rather than in a group chat).

In the chat tab, click the “+” button (upper right), and select “New Broadcast.” Select each Learner that you would like to send the same message and proceed.

Group Chats

All Learners matched with the same SSG will be placed into a group chat with their SSG. This will allow Learners to meet new students, ask questions in a group setting, and network. The SSG will act as a moderator for this group.

In addition to this Learner group chat, SSGs will have the option to create additional more targeted group chats with their Learners as needed. This is a good opportunity to connect students with similar interests so they can communicate. The SSG will act as a moderator for such groups as well. To create more targeted group chats, click “+” in the upper right hand corner on the chat tab and select “New Group.” You can select the Learners to be included in the chat, give the group chat a name, and even select a profile picture for the chat. These details can be edited after creating the chat as well.

Safety Information

In this tab, you can view emergency information, non-emergency resources, and general information.

MentorHub NU – Web Version

SSGs can now access their MentorHub NU account through an online web platform. The features available within the web platform are the same ones you can access within the MentorHub NU mobile app.

Use the tool bar on the left hand side to toggle between such features.
