Through the MentorHub NU app, SSGs can make referrals to specific resources, knowledge base articles, or activities to assist Learners with meeting their goals and unique needs.
Understanding Learners’ Needs
It starts with the Check-In and goal setting, where Learners can indicate what is currently most challenging for them and set their goals for the semester. You will be able to see Learners’ goals and Check-In responses to understand how best to support them.
To view Learners’ Check-In scores, goals, and priorities, navigate to their Learner profile through the Learner tab in the MentorHub NU app. Upon clicking into the Learner’s information, use the options at the top to view “goals” and “Check-In” scores.
Tapping the Check-In tab in your app lets you see this information on your Learner in more detail. From here, you can set the view to monthly, weekly, or latest.
For goals, learners in the MentorHub NU app will be prompted to indicate their current priorities and goals. They will also be recommended resources and knowledge base articles related to such goals. From the SSG side, you will be able to see the goals that the Learner indicated, how they rated them by priority, and if they are on track with the associated tasks. This will provide SSGs with the knowledge they need to make additional referrals.
Creating Referrals is a great way to help your Learner progress and move past their challenges and work towards their goals.
From there, you can initiate a conversation to understand what resources specifically might work best to address these challenges or goals. Based on the challenges or goals that they mutually identified, you can create a referral for them which will include the information and actions necessary to support their needs.
Creating a Referral
It is important to note that Learners now have access to a Resource Hub in the MentorHub NU app, which provides them access to the resources and knowledge base articles that you have for referrals. However, some Learners may still need additional assistance or support to get started. That’s where SSGs come in!
To create a referral, open the file for the Learner. Swipe until you reach the Referrals sections on the top of the screen. Click on the red book icon on the bottom right hand of the screen. You will now have the option to create a referral based on the challenges the Learner is presenting.
You will also be able to recommend articles that will help guide the Learner through the challenge.
You can recommend a specific set of steps for each challenge that the Learners encounter and discuss. These will display within the app referral as shown.
These steps may range in how involved they are proportional to the needs that they describe. An initial first step might be to access a web page related to the challenge they are experiencing. For example, if they are not sure how to sign up for classes, you might suggest a short article on how this process works.
Feedback on Referrals
If your referral doesn’t solve the issue, you can follow up by recommending a more involved step. In the example given above, it might be appropriate to email an academic advisor for more information. You will be able to assign them a task with the information they’ll need to get in touch.
In addition, upon completing a referral task, each Learner will be prompted to complete a survey asking for feedback on the resource and whether they thought it was helpful. This feedback is important for providing the most effective and targeted recommendations to each Learner.
You can find these Learner responses to the feedback survey by navigating to the Learner’s profile and clicking “Surveys” at the top.
